North Central CMA Appoints New CEO

North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA) Chairman, Dr Ian MacBean today announced the appointment of Damian Wells as the organisation's new Chief Executive Officer (CEO).

"The Board is delighted to appoint Damian Wells as its CEO" said Dr MacBean. "Mr Wells is an outstanding young natural resource management professional with strong management credentials who will continue the leadership role that the North Central Catchment Management Authority has built over recent years", Dr MacBean said. "Damian has played a central role in developing the North Central CMA's current strategy and is well-positioned to lead its implementation" added Dr MacBean.

Mr Wells has worked across many aspects of the catchment management industry in Victoria having worked in leadership roles in Mallee CMA, Goulburn Murray Water and North Central CMA. Damian holds an Honours degree in Environmental Management and a Master of Business Administration.

Mr Wells said that he was excited about the new role and was looking forward to delivering the North Central CMA's innovative business strategy. "The Board, the Natural Resource Management Committee and the staff are currently implementing a new strategy that will protect the region's highest value environmental assets" Mr Wells said. "We are implementing projects with the community to protect the Campaspe, Loddon, Avoca and Avon-Richardson river systems as well as working with partner agencies and the community to secure biodiversity in high value grasslands such as those on the Patho Plains" stated Mr Wells, whose appointment is effective Monday 15 September.
