Survey to inform Rochester Flood Plan

17 Oct 2012

A Rochester Flood Management Plan is on-track with the North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA) engaging CPG Australia Pty Ltd to undertake floor level surveys from Monday 22 October for five weeks.

The North Central CMA, in partnership with the Shire of Campaspe and the local community, is leading the plan’s development.  Ms Sarah Stanaway, Project Officer from the North Central CMA, said “surveys will be undertaken at both residential and commercial properties.

“Surveyors will carry identification and a letter of engagement from the North Central CMA.   In some instances surveyors may require access to private property however they will take measurements from floor levels at the front door step and will not need to enter any buildings or residences.

“Survey data will identify flood-affected properties in Rochester for a range of modelled flood events.  Results from the survey are an important step in the plan’s development and will assist future flood warnings.  The information will also inform the Victorian State Emergency Services Floodsafe Program

“The Rochester Flood Management Plan is scheduled for completion in late 2012.  The Plan will determine the potential impact of a range of flood events on the town. It will provide information to improve flood warnings and emergency response activities and will also assess potential mitigation options,” said Ms Stanaway.

A third community information session regarding the plan is scheduled for early December 2012.  Further information will be provided closer to the date.
