Kerang consulted on reginal waterways

20 Mar 2014

The North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA) will host a conversation in Kerang on Monday seeking community feedback on the Draft North Central Regional Waterway Strategy.

Commencing at 7:30pm on Monday 24 March at the Nolan Street Memorial Hall in Kerang, the meeting will consider priorities for the region’s waterways through to 2022.

North Central CMA Water and Environment Specialist Rohan Hogan is conducting the meeting as part of a series of community forums around the region.

“The future of our region’s local waterways will be discussed with priorities identified in the draft Waterway Strategy set to guide investment and works for rivers and wetlands in north central Victoria over the next eight years,” Mr Hogan said.

“The conversation in Kerang will feature guest speaker North Central CMA Project Manager Anna Chatfield discussing works to improve fish habitat and fish movement through the Lower Loddon. These works aim to provide better conditions for our native fish populations, including the Murray Cod and Golden Perch.

“Community members interested in their local waterway; whether for environmental, recreational, or economic reasons, are invited to come along and have their say,” said Mr Hogan.

Participants are asked to RSVP for catering purposes.
