Have your say on Waterway Strategy

7 Mar 2014

The North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is hosting a series of regional public forums seeking community feedback on priorities in the Draft North Central Regional Waterway Strategy.

Mr David Clark, Chair of the North Central CMA Board, said, “It’s important that local communities are involved in determining the future management of our region’s remarkable waterway assets.

“Our rivers and wetlands sustain environmental values including the Murray Cod and River Red Gum forests and provide important recreational opportunities such as fishing, swimming, camping, boating and bushwalking; whilst their health underpins many aspects of the region’s tourism, jobs and investment. The priorities identified through this consultation process will guide investment and works for rivers and wetlands in north central Victoria over the next eight years to 2022.

“Community members, particularly those who know and value their local waterway, are invited to participate and assist the North Central CMA in finalising draft priorities. Public forums will be held in Campbells Creek, Kyneton, Charlton, Kerang and Rochester, with each forum featuring discussion on local waterway projects and priorities,” said Mr Clark.

Participants are asked to please RSVP at least three days before a forum for catering purposes.

Copies of the draft waterway strategy can be downloaded at www.nccma.vic.gov.au.

Feedback on the draft waterway strategy can be submitted by 10 April 2014 via email to info@nccma.vic.gov.au or mail to North Central CMA PO BOX 18 Huntly 3551.
