Gunbower Forest Photo Competition Winners announced

25 Nov 2013

The North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA) has announced the winners of its ‘Flooding for Life’ photography competition – capturing the natural beauty of Gunbower Forest.

The ‘Flooding for Life’ photography competition, launched late last year, received over 70 high quality entries.  North Central CMA’s project officer, Ms Amy Russell, said images ranged from beautiful landscapes to intimate portraits of wildlife iconic to Gunbower Forest, including the spoonbill, stumpy tailed lizard and golden orb spider.

“Gunbower Forest has some of the most picturesque environments in Victoria, and we were keen to see the forest through the community’s eyes – see what they saw and what they loved.

“The community have unveiled some absolutely stunning amateur photography. These images are a credit to the photographers, with some featuring in our 2014 calendar.  Households in the Gunbower Island area will receive a calendar over the coming weeks,” said Ms Russell.

Winners of the photography competition are:

Alicia McInnes of Koondrook for her intimate portrait of the golden orb spider

Daniel Stone of Melbourne for his close up of a dragonfly

Geoff Wakeman of Gunbower for his ‘in motion’ photo of a water rat

Haydon Macintosh, age 11, of Melbourne for his photo of a stumpy tailed lizard

Jamee Lee Treacy, age 16, of Gunbower for her photo of a flowering Yellow Waterlily
