Community Representatives Sought

7 Oct 2009

The North Central Catchment Management Authority is seeking community members for appointment to its Natural Resource Management Committee (NRMC).

The North Central CMA is a statutory authority that works to protect and improve rivers and the natural environment in North Central Victoria.  It receives community advice from the NRMC, which provides a local community perspective on planning and works, and advises the North Central CMA Board on regional strategy, investment priorities and community engagement.

In 2008, existing NRMC members were appointed following an Expression of Interest and appointment process. Following recent attrition, two new members are sought to ensure an appropriate mix of skills and geographic representation. In particular, members who possess either of the following are encouraged to apply:

  • Understanding of the lower Campaspe catchment area, with a strong awareness of irrigation issues
  • Ability to provide an Indigenous community perspective on North Central CMA activities.

Other criteria include the ability to communicate effectively with local communities, and availability to attend monthly meetings. Successful applicants will be appointed for a three-year term.

NRMC members receive sitting fees and reimbursement for travel and other expenses associated with NRMC business.

Intending applicants should obtain further information from the North Central CMA on (03) 5448-7124 or from www.nccma.vic.gov.au.

Expressions of Interest marked ‘confidential’ and addressed to Sandra Volk, North Central CMA, PO Box 18, Huntly 3551, will be accepted until 5pm, Wednesday 7 October. An interview process will follow.
