Community Meeting at Creswick Senior Citizens Hall

20 Jul 2011

Community members are invited to attend a meeting at the Creswick Senior Citizens Hall from 7.30pm on Thursday 11 August 2011, where progress on the Flood Mitigation and Urban Drainage Plan for Creswick will be the topic of conversation.

The meeting is being led by the North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA) and the Hepburn Shire Council who are both committed to seeking local community input into the plan.

Mr Malcolm Brown, Chairman of the Project Steering Committee said significant progress has already been made including the development of computer models to assess how to best protect Creswick from future flood events.

“Community involvement is vital for the success of the plan.  The meeting will provide an update on the plans progress as well as seeking community feedback on the different flooding scenarios and mitigation options being considered,” Mr Brown said.

Mr Brown confirmed Hepburn Shire Council, under the Municipal Emergency Management Plan (MEMP), is in the process of developing a Flood Emergency Management Plan which will cover Prevention, Preparedness and Response to flood events.  Progress on the Plan will also be discussed on the night.

Attendees can RSVP to North Central CMA on 5448 7124 or info@nccma.vic.gov.au by Tuesday 8 August.
