Community Grants Guide Now Available

11 Feb 2010

The North Central Management Authority (CMA) has published a Community Grants Guide identifying funding opportunities for individuals and community groups caring for the natural environment in North Central Victoria.

According to the North Central CMA, the guide will be a valuable resource enabling groups such as Landcare to continue the community-based work undertaken throughout the region.

“Landcare support has changed dramatically over the past year as a result of changes in the Australian Government funding priorities.  The development of this Community Grants Guide is part of the North Central CMA’s plan to maintain support for Landcare across the region. Landcare and other groups can now access key information on the different types of grants available and how to apply for funding,” said North Central CMA Chief Executive Officer, Damian Wells.

The Community Grants Guide includes information on: incorporation, insurance and tax; volunteer recruitment; types of grants available from the Australian, Victorian and local governments as well as philanthropic trusts and foundation grants.

“Landcare has a proud track record in this region,” said Mr Wells. “Its volunteers are responsible for countless achievements, including on-ground works, field days, training and awareness-raising activities – as well as contributing to healthy communities and social networking.“

With funding from the Victorian Government, the North Central CMA continues to employ a Regional Landcare Coordinator to oversee Landcare support, including region’s Second Generation Landcare Grants Program.

The Landcare movement originated in North Central Victoria in 1986, with 185 Landcare groups being established since that time.
