Climate Evening

13 Sep 2007

The North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is inviting the public to come along and enjoy a 'Grass Roots Climate Evening'.

North Central CMA's Research & Development Knowledge Broker Paula Camenzuli said that "the theme around the 'Grass Roots Climate Evening' was about getting community members together in a relaxed environment to engage in Climate related discussion".

"We are very fortunate to have Kim Chalmers as a guest speaker for the evening. Kim is involved with the Australian Conservation Foundation and has been trained as a climate change presenter by Al Gore".

"There is little doubt that we are continuing to see significant changes to our climate patterns, none more so than the ongoing effects of this drought. While some of this can be attributed directly to human activities, there is growing evidence to suggest that the effects of climate change, exacerbated by sustained drought conditions, is jeopardising our ecosystems," said Paula.

"The evening will also include a presentation from Ian Lillington, author of 'The Holistic Life - Sustainability Through Permaculture'. Ian brings to the evening a wealth of information about sustainability from his experiences in the UK", added Paula.

The 'Grass Roots Climate Evening' will be held Thursday 18 October at the Avoca RSL in High Street Avoca from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm and includes a scrumptious meal at no cost to those making a booking.

Bookings are essential and can be made by contacting Janelle Williams at North Central CMA before Friday 5 October on (03) 5448 7124 or email Janelle.williams@nccma.vic.gov.au
