Capture the essence of Spring in the Bendigo Bush

21 Sep 2009

An opportunity to appreciate our unique wildlife while learning photography skills is one of several activities planned for Spring in the Bendigo Bush this year. The North Central Catchment Management Authority is celebrating the annual event by hosting a nature photography workshop featuring well known wildlife photographer David Kleinert.

David is a passionate photographer who has been capturing the beauty and complexity of flora and fauna in the Bendigo region for many years. Through Spring in the Bendigo Bush, he will be sharing his knowledge and experience on wildlife photography, offering guidance on equipment selection, and providing information about composing, post-production and web publishing, amongst other things.

Two free sessions will be held on Sunday 27 September; the morning session will run from 9am– 11am, with the afternoon session running from 1pm–3pm. Both workshops will start from the Gunyah Picnic area in the Wellsford State Forest (off Plant Road Wellsford). Participants will be required to bring their own camera, appropriate clothing and footwear. Numbers are limited for both events, so booking is essential by contacting Melanie Taube at North Central Catchment Management Authority on 03 5448 7124. For more information, visit the North Central CMA website: www.nccma.vic.gov.au.

Spring in the Bendigo Bush aims to promote and raise awareness of the bushland surrounding Bendigo, including national parks, regional parks, state forests, conservation reserves, council parks and other natural areas. This annual event gives community members a chance to see these parks and surrounding bushlands when they are at their best during late August through to September.

The concept was initiated in 1994 by the Bendigo Field Naturalists Club. Since its early beginnings, many groups have contributed to its running; this year, support has been provided by the North Central Catchment Management Authority, Parks Victoria, City of Greater Bendigo, Department of Sustainability and Environment, Bendigo Field Naturalists Club and La Trobe University.
