Current water for the environment flows
River and wetland flows are managed to maintain or improve the health of a river or wetland and with the aim of achieving key ecological objectives. Click on each waterway for the latest information on environmental flow volumes, timings and objectives.
Campaspe River
The Campaspe catchment extends from the Great Dividing Range in the south to the Murray River in the north, a total distance of approximately 150 km. The catchment has an average width of approximately 25 km for a total area in the region of 4,000 km². This represents in the order of 17% of our region.
Guttrum and Benwell forests
We are investigating environmental works projects that aim to deliver environmental outcomes to Guttrum and Benwell forests under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan, using less water.
Tullaroop Catchment
The Tullaroop catchment is within the upper Loddon River Basin and is the area inclusive and upstream of Tullaroop Reservoir (including Tullaroop, Birch’s and Creswick creeks)
Gunbower
Gunbower truly is the Kakadu of the south.
Between its internationally recognised wetland, its towering forests and a creek the community loves, it is a landmark for the entire nation.
Protecting it, repairing it and building in resilience is a task that stretches across agencies and across all levels of community and government.
Loddon River
The Loddon River flows north from the Great Dividing Range in central Victoria to the Murray River, with three main storages - Cairn Curran, Tullaroop and Laanecoorie reservoirs.
Its lower reaches are critical vegetation corridors in a landscape with only 13% of original vegetation remaining.
Wimmera Mallee Wetlands
The Wimmera–Mallee Wetlands includes 51 small wetlands on public and private land spread across the dry north-west area of Victoria.
