Creswick Flood Mitigation and Urban Drainage Plan

The Creswick community experienced three separate flooding events during late 2010 and early 2011 causing significant damage to property and stress and hardship for many Creswick residents. The Minister for Water announced funding for the Creswick Flood Mitigation and Urban Drainage Plan on February 9 2011, with the plan to include the following:

  • A review of the available data, including data from the Creswick Community.
  • Calibrated computer models for the catchment and results for a series of design events.
  • Development of a series of flood and urban drainage mitigation options to reduce flood risk and an assessment of their feasibility.
  • Recommendations of preferred flood and urban drainage mitigation options for consideration by the Steering Committee, Technical Working Group and the Creswick community.

The North Central CMA, in conjunction with the Hepburn Shire Council and the community, has developed the Creswick Flood Mitigation and Urban Drainage Plan. A summarised brochure of the full Creswick Flood Mitigation and Urban Drainage Plan available for community comment. The feedback form is available for Creswick community members to provide their input into the proposed Plan.
