Regional Agriculture Landcare Facilitator

The Regional Agriculture Landcare Facilitator (RALF) program is a national network of agriculture-focused, regionally based facilitators.

Regional Agriculture Landcare Facilitators:

  • work with farming communities.
  • provide support services to increase the uptake of sustainable agricultural practices.
  • build stronger networks and partnerships to benefit farmers and industry.

The RALF program is funded and supported by the Australian Government's National Landcare Program Regional Land Partnerships Initiative.

The RALF supports farmers to continue, and take up, sustainable land management practices and adapt to the challenges of changing market demands and climatic conditions.

Role of the Regional Agriculture Landcare Facilitator:

  • The key contact point for farmers, industry and community groups offering support for agriculture-related project activities and services in their regions.
  • Focuses on working with community members and groups with a sustainable agriculture emphasis.
  • Seeks new knowledge, such as research results, through participating in Communities of Practice to better understand issues, improve networks and assist community to find solutions for their agricultural challenges.
  • Engages and informs farmers, community groups and agricultural industries about emerging ideas; climate variation; on‐farm biosecurity; chemical management and innovative practices.
  • Shares relevant and new information about agriculture to help farmers improve their sustainability, productivity and profitability of agriculture.
  • Builds partnerships with farmers, industry and community groups assisting them to work together to address opportunities, concerns and difficulties.
  • Assists farmers, community groups and agricultural industries to develop projects and seek new funding opportunities e.g. the National Landcare Program’s Smart Farms Small Grants initiative.
  • Provides updates to the Australian Government about emerging issues and events within the region, such as the impacts of seasonal conditions on farmers or emerging farm management issues affecting sustainable agriculture.

The North Central CMA’s RALF is available to support Landcare and farmer groups and individuals in identifying and sourcing relevant agricultural information such as appropriate funding options or agricultural events that build a stronger agricultural community.
