John Cable
GLENLYON
When John purchased his property on the Loddon River at Glenlyon in 2000, the river was barely visible through the walls of willows, blackberries and gorse. Now, with the assistance of the NCCMA, he is returning it to its natural beaut. The near-eradication of noxious weeds and intensive planting of provenance plants has transformed the riparian zone, encouraging the return of native fauna. John's involvement with the local Landcare group has allowed him and his family to build a strong working relationship with the local community. The group is currently involved in the development of a biolink, a pathway that links key community locations along the river. With a background in the senior ranks of the Australian public service, John has been able to share his expertise in working collaboratively with natural resource management organisations to ensure the best outcomes for our community and for the Loddon River.
