Upper Loddon Catchment Action Plan - An Opportunity to Participate

7 Jan 2008

The North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is currently developing a Catchment Action Plan for the Upper Loddon Catchment. This plan will detail how the North Central CMA undertakes environmental works in the area, as well as identify key locations as priority sites to protect and enhance the health of our local waterways.

North Central CMA would like to meet with community members that have an interest in the future management of Sailors Creek, Jim Crow Creek and the Loddon River upstream (south) from Guildford to share local knowledge for the development of the planning tool.

North Central CMA's River Project Manager, Megan Kreutzer added that there is a lot of interest in the area and this plan will aim to harness the knowledge and ideas from the community while building on existing strategic documents.

"What is missing is the local knowledge of what really is important to the local community".

Once the Plan is completed, a user friendly Report will be available to landholders and landholder groups to assist in the identification of priority sites for on-ground environmental works in their communities.

Interested landholders, landholder groups and individuals are invited to attend public consultation meetings. There will be three community forums:

  • Monday 21st January 2008 - Yandoit Mechanics Institute 1.00pm - 3.00pm
  • Monday 21st January 2008 - Glenlyon Shire Hall 6.00pm - 8.00pm
  • Tuesday 22nd January 2008 - Daylesford Town Hall 10am -12pm
