Plant a family tree this Father’s Day

21 Aug 2017

Coming together for some family time and enjoying each other’s company is what Father’s Day is all about.

Throw in some fresh air, Mother Nature and a community event, and you have a recipe that is much better than breakfast in bed.

The North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA) is organising a special Father’s Day tree planting event on the Campaspe River at Kyneton.

North Central CMA Project Manager Angela Gladman said the event is part of the revegetation of an important stretch of river through town and is part of the Victorian Government’s $222 million investment over the next four years to improve the health of waterways and catchments.

“The Campaspe River upstream of Mollison Street was cleared of willows, blackberry and gorse last summer as part of the Caring for the Campaspe project,” she said.

“This work builds upon the long-term dedication of the local Campaspe River and Land Management Working Group who we are partnering with to hold a community tree planting on Father's Day.”\

“Bring your jackets and beanies, bring your gloves and, most importantly, bring your dad. You can have breakfast on us and be finished in time for Father’s Day lunch.”

The event will be held on Father’s Day, September 3, from 9am to 11am. Come along and enjoy a free BBQ breakfast and coffee and plant a tree or three.

“You can also find out more about the work of the North Central CMA along the Campaspe River,” Ms Gladman said.

“You can access the site from Campaspe Drive, off Mollison Street in Kyneton.”
