Floodplain Management

To meet the Statutory Function obligations under the Water Act and CaLP Act, this primarily
involves:

  • Permits and compliance for the Works on Waterways Permit Scheme
  • Planning permit, flood level and farm dam referrals, including compliance
  • Flood Response Action Plan and flood warning systems
  • Issue and compliance of a Land Management Notice under the Catchment and Land Protection Act (1994.

The project is a statutory function that encompasses the whole region. The target audience is local government, EPA Victoria, water corporations, developers, land owners and prospective purchasers of land and property. The main aims are to minimise the adverse impacts of new development and to improve the safety for people and property within flood prone areas, as well as to ensure that water quality and aquatic habitat are not adversely impacted upon. Land owners are required to comply with Special Area Plans
