Landcare in North Central Victoria

Landcare logo Stacked with white corner.pngLandcare is a community driven movement that allows people to protect and repair the environment and contribute to sustainable landscapes. Run by local volunteers, Landcare involves thousands of people and more than 4,000 groups Australia wide working together to shape the future of our land, biodiversity and waterways.

Landcare began in the North Central CMA region in 1986, when a group of farmers near St Arnaud formed the first Landcare group. Since then, Landcare has grown into a national and international movement with fifteen countries now supporting Landcare groups.

The number of Landcare groups continues to grow and we have over 160 Landcare and natural resource management groups within the North Central CMA region.

The future health of our environment is in the hands of the regional community - people who farm the land, live in the towns, manage natural resources, attend local schools or volunteer their time and energy for a better environment.
