The regulations have changed - you now need a 1080 Endorsement to purchase and use 1080 Baits in Victoria.
From 1 January this year, a new system for the purchase and use of 1080 Baits has been implemented in Victoria. You are now required to complete a 1080 training course and obtain a 1080 Endorsement.
Fully subsidised 1080 Endorsement courses are available until 30 June 2008 as part of the North Central CMA's Drought Employment Program.

Am I eligible for the 1080 Endorsement subsidy?
* Do you own or manage 20ha or more of land in the North Central Catchment?
* Have you successfully completed a Farm Chemical Users Course (FCUC) or equivalent?
* Do you want to use 1080 Bait for fox control purposes as part of an Integrated Pest Management plan?
If so, you may be eligible for government assistance towards completing your 1080 Endorsement.

If you haven't done one and can satisfy the eligibility criteria, then subsidised Farm Chemical Users Courses (FCUC) are also available. Successful completion of the FCUC is required to obtain your Agricultural Chemical Users Permit (ACUP) through the Department of Primary Industries . Courses are being run throughout the catchment, and are also part of the Drought Employment Program.
Eligibility criteria for the FCUC is the same as the criteria for the 1080 Endorsement courses.

In order to purchase 1080 pest animal bait products you need to complete a Course in Minimising the Risks in the Use of 1080 Pest Animal Bait Products for Vertebrate Pest Control and obtain a 1080 endorsement to your Agricultural Chemical User Permit (ACUP).
Do I need an Agricultural Chemical Users Permit to purchase and use 1080 Bait Products?
Yes, you need to apply to the DPI for your ACUP Permit in order to use 1080 Bait Products.
Why do I need an ACUP if I have successfully completed a Farm Chemical Users Course and want to purchase and use 1080 Bait Products?
The ACUP system was introduced in August 1996 to restrict the use of high-risk chemicals to people who were appropriately trained in safe chemical use.
