Works on Waterways Permit

Many work practices in the past have caused major degradation of our waterways. To protect and rehabilitate our rivers and creeks we need to ensure that any works undertaken on designated waterways do not adversely affect the health of those waterways.

Works and activities within the bed and banks of designated waterways in the north central region of Victoria require a permit from the North Central Catchment Management Authority (CMA).

Works and activities may include:

  • Bridges
  • Culverts
  • Fords
  • Service Crossings
  • Stormwater outlets
  • Drop Structures
  • Stream deviations
  • Extractions
  • Bed and bank stabilisation
  • Large woody debris removal
  • Vegetation management

How to apply?

An application form must be completed and submitted to the North Central CMA. A permit must be issued prior to any works commencing.
