Summary: The Royal Society of Victoria is holding this regional symposium to recognise the environmental history and the scientific significance of the North Central region. The conference will concentrate on the management and sustainability of the region and also examine priorities and options for future management. The future of the North Central region is not only important to people who live within the region, its close proximity to Melbourne means that its future is relevant to a large proportion of Victorians.

The event is to recognise the hard work and efforts of the volunteer Landcare community over the past year and encourage Landcare participants to imagine the future and will include the launch of a publication titled ‘Celebrating our Most Significant Change - Stories of Landcare in the North Central Catchment’.

Summary: During the course of each year, the Cohuna Progress Association run several events for the local community, the next event being the annual Austoberfest to be held on Sat. 1st Nov 2008 from 4pm.
Being an irrigation dairying community, farmers and businesses have been affected by the sustained drought and as such the Cohuna Progress Association beleive it is important to keep the spirits of the general community buoyant.
The North Central CMA are again proud to be one of the sponsors of the event. Staff from the North Central CMA will be available on the day to discuss the Land and Water Management Plan in the Loddon Campaspe Irrigation Region. Gunbower forest will also be featured at our site.
Other featured events include a twilight market, arts, crafts and many other activities.
