Our Flaura and Fauna
The indigenous inhabitants of many tribes have occupied this region for many thousands of years. They were the original 'caretakers' of the land, waters and the life that sprang from them. Their relationship and co-existence with the natural resources this region offered has, in many valuable ways, helped shape the North Central Catchment Management Authority's (CMA) vision, which we now embrace as the new 'caretakers' of our precious natural resources.

This vision of 'a well informed, resourced and actively committed community, protecting and improving the natural resources for the environmental, social and economical benefit of our region' is as important to us now as it would have been to the original 'caretakers'.

Our Mission

To lead, coordinate and integrate sustainable natural resource management for the benefit of our rivers and the communities that depend on them.

We will:

  • Be accountable for investing in localised and dispersed assets to achieve public good river health outcomes.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report on the outcomes to our communities.
  • Advocate the wise use and protection of our rivers.
Engage our communities in the achievement of our mission.
Use the best available information and knowledge to guide policy development.
